Eight team members from Unity Trust Bank have joined the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) Future Faces initiative, as part of the bank’s commitment to employee development.
The GBCC Future Faces programme is a growing network for young professionals and future leaders. The initiative exists to support, develop and recognise young talent from a range of sectors across Greater Birmingham.
With our headquarters in Birmingham’s Brindleyplace, Unity is a proud member of the GBCC. The bank takes an active role within the Chambers, alongside a community of organisations that are helping to shape the future of business in the city.
At Unity, we’re committed to supporting the personal and professional growth of every employee. The aims of the GBCC Future Faces programme closely align to our own focus on career progression and development for all staff members.
We invited Unity employees to apply for a fully-funded place on the Future Faces programme. We’re delighted that eight staff members, across eight departments, have now joined the initiative.
They include Hattie Lewis, Digital Marketing Manager; Amaraj Shocker, Regulatory and Financial Reporting Assistant Manager; Jack Clews, Relationship Manager; Jade Bromage, Unity Connect Change Lead; Jennifer Goode, Deputy Company Secretary; Chantal Bird, Office Manager; Lexi Florescu, Financial Crime High Risk Officer and Bushra Majid, Commercial Banking Officer.
Here, we speak to three of them to find out about their own personal motivations for joining Future Faces. They share what they hope to gain from the network.
“I’m passionate about creating opportunities for young people. I know the importance of investing in and supporting employees at the start of their career. I’m so pleased that Unity is backing the Future Faces programme and I’m delighted to be a part of it. I work remotely for the majority of the week. Because of this, I often miss interacting and working with younger members of staff in the business. So, this has provided a wonderful opportunity to join new networks and connect with like-minded young professionals across the city.”
“As a relatively new recruit at Unity, joining Future Faces is a great opportunity to build new networks within the business, as well as with other organisations across Birmingham. I’ve really enjoyed meeting my fellow Future Faces members. Also, getting an insight into different departments within Unity will no doubt help my future progression within the bank. This is my first job role in Birmingham city centre, so I’m also looking forward to meeting new contacts across the city and honing my business and communication skills.”
“Networking and building my professional profile has always been important to me, so this opportunity was perfect. I love to meet new people. This has provided an exciting avenue in which to network and socialise with fellow young people in finance, as well as other sectors across the city. I’m also keen to be involved in Future Faces’ mentoring scheme to help further develop my career. I’ll learn so much from leading professionals in business.”
At Unity, our employees share our vision of creating a better society through responsible, ethical banking. The bank has a strong commitment to employee development so we can continue to best serve our staff and customers.
