How does accepting card payments with Elavon work?

Elavon is a payment processing company that provides solutions for accepting payments in-store, online, and over the phone. The general process involves a customer initiating a transaction, which the Elavon system then securely transmits to the relevant banks for authorisation and settlement.

An easy way to take card payments without the need for a long-term commitment. Simply connect the card machine to your smartphone or tablet. Useful for mobile businesses or if you only take card payments occasionally.

  • We do not provide financial advice to our customers. Any information we share is for general purposes only and should not be relied on as advice or a recommendation.
  • Pricing terms are agreed directly with Elavon and it is not possible to get this service cheaper by directly engaging Elavon.
  • The sale and ongoing service of card payment acceptance solutions, including settlement of funds, is directly managed by Elavon.
  • If you enter into a merchant services agreement with Elavon then we will receive a share of the fees you pay to them.

Get referred to Elavon by Unity

To request a referral to Elavon please contact your Relationship Manager or call Unity Experience on 0345 140 1000*. Unity will only make referrals with your consent and upon your request. When customer information is passed to Elavon they also become controllers of this information.

*Opening hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank and public holidays in England and Wales. Calls are charged at local rate. Calls may be monitored and recorded for training, quality and security purposes.

Elavon will contact you to discuss your needs, typically within one working day. If you’ve not been contacted with two working days, please call Elavon on their dedicated Unity line on 020 3901 8453**.

Within 10 working days you’ll be ready go. Once your application is approved, Elavon will work with you directly to deliver exactly what you need to get started.

For existing Elavon customers

Elavon is responsible for all on-going queries, servicing, and complaints. If you’re an Elavon customer and need some help, you can access support in three ways:

Explore the Elavon customer centre, which offers a range of materials to support you with your Elavon payment solutions.
Access live chat help using Elavon Connect (lines open 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday). The Elavon Connect online portal makes it easy to manage your account online. Customers can use a range of self service features including viewing statements, updating details of direct debit mandates and renewing their merchant services contract.
Call the Elavon customer support team on their dedicated Unity line on 020 3901 8453 (lines open 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday). Call charges apply (up to 7p per minute), plus your telephone company’s network access charge (up to 30p per call) dependent on you phone or mobile network package. Please check with your network for further details.
