Committed to equality
We’re committed to creating a fair, inclusive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Supporting gender equality is part of how we build a stronger organisations for our colleagues, our customers and the communities we serve.
Our approach
We focus on creating equal opportunity at every stage of the colleague experience, from recruitment through to progression and leadership. This includes:
- Fair and transparent pay, supported by our annual gender pay gap reporting.
- Increasing female representation in leadership roles.
- Inclusive recruitment and development practices.
- A culture where different perspectives are valued.
Our people policies and practices are designed to promote equality and remove barriers, helping individuals reach their full potential.
Taking action
We support gender equality through both formal initiatives and everyday culture. We:
- Are corporate partners of Women in Banking and Finance (WIBF).
- Ranked 7th in the UK’s Top 200 Women-Powered Businesses and were the only bank within the top 10.
- Were awarded two stars for “outstanding” levels of employee engagement by Best Companies.
- Are Investors in People Gold accredited.
Internally:
- We run a dedicated equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) pillar within our colleague forum, focussed on promoting equity in the workplace and wider community. This employee‑led pillar aims to build a workplace where everyone feels included, respected, and valued. Their plans for 2026 focus on three main areas: helping people learn about EDI; making EDI part of everyday work; and creating a culture where colleagues feel listened to, supported, and confident.
- As part of our EDI strategy, we strive to recognise and celebrate inclusive moments all year round. We do this by running key events that highlight the importance of EDI for our colleagues, including International Women’s Day and International Men’s Day.
- Our very own Head of Enterprise Risk, Jennie Koo, has been recognised in the prestigious Heroes Women Role Model List 2025 for championing diversity, equity and inclusion in the finance sector.
