Global leaders meet for the 76th UN General AssemblyBlogs Published: September 20, 2021 11:24 am
A series of high-level events will be streamed online this week as the 76th session of the UN General Assembly gets under way.
Starting today, September 20th, world leaders will come together to discuss what action is needed to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which were adopted in 2015 as part of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The SDGs are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives of everyone around the world by 2030.
As a socially motivated bank, Unity Trust Bank supports organisations that positively contribute to social, economic, and environmental needs and we align our operations and practices to this globally recognised framework for achieving a better and more sustainable future.
The Assembly’s focus will be on some of today’s most urgent challenges – racism and discrimination, climate change and biodiversity loss and the need for renewable energy and sustainable food systems.
People around the world will be able to watch the events via UN Web TV, and we warmly encourage our customers, partners and shareholders to tune in too:
